Remove Fabric Softener Smell?

Question:I don't like the perfume smell of most fabric softeners. I have clothes that were washed by other people and I want to get the smell out. In the past I have tried multiple washings, Tide, All, Shout, and Oxy Clean. None of those really helped. Has anyone found something that works?

Answers:
Hang them out on the line to air dry then wash them the way you want.

Add two cups of Baking Soda in a warm water wash.

It works like a charm in removing good and bad odors.
Have you tried using a detergent without perfumes? Most of the common brands have perfumes, but they also make a "free and clear" version of All and Tide. Check the lable. Also, look for a washing soda by Arm & Hammer. Line drying outdoors is great also.
