How can I wash my baseball hat?
Question:I need to wash my all white baseball hat. It was bought within the last few months so I'm not worried about cardboard being in the bill. I've found things online for cotton and wool hats but not for this material. This hat is 97% acrylic and 3% spandex. It's one of those "ONE-FIT" hats.
Is the washing machine ok? Are there any special instructions to avoid damage?
Answers:
Put it in the top shelf of your dishwasher if you have one.Let it air dry (no dryer!) That should do it.
There's a plastic cap shaper mold you can buy that fits around the hat. You put the hat in the mold and throw the whole thing (hat and mold) in the washer, then air dry. I'd wash in cold water.
Here a link on ebay for the cap shaper:

Dishwasher, top rack but pull out before it hits the dry cycle. I do it with all my husbands hats, old and new. He puts them on after I pull them out to break new ones in faster. If he doesn't put them on, I just sit them on the counter to dry or sit them outside for a little bit.
This is a combo of everything so far. Spray that hat with spray-n-wash where needed. Put the hat into the plastic mold shaper(available at BedBathBeyong), into the dishwasher and Voila!!. good as new, I do it all the time.
All you need to do is put them in a normal wash cycle (cold water is the best) with your normal laundry soap and fabric softener and once the load is done, leave the hat on top of the washer or dryer to air dry.
You can dry the hat, but it changes the shape of the hat and you probably want to keep the shape that you created.
