You need to wash all the walls and ceilings, clean the carpets and furniture with a wet-vac, and launder all your clothing that you haven't worn since you quit.
Wash anything that you can wash (curtains, rugs... anything fabric. Shampoo your carpet and clean your walls with a light bleach and water solution. If you can't afford to rent a carpet cleaner go get some arm and hammer pet carpet sprinkles and use these then vacuum. Then use some febreeze all throughout the house on furniture and other areas... after doing all this open all doors and windows and turn on any fans you have for about an hour. ;) congrats on quitting!
Oh yeah... almost forgot.. after spraying furniture and items with febreeze. spray nuetra air throughout the house.
Firstly...congrats.
Start with your curtains...wash them. Wash down your walls...and maybe paint them as well as the ceiling. (Seems like alot of work...but really, well worth it.) And get some of the scented powder that you vaccum up for your carpets. The upholstery is more difficult...but fabreeze works really well. Then just open up all the windows and get a good smoke eater air spray...use up a whole can or two if you have to.it worked for me!
wash the walls with Murphy's oil soap and if carpeted steam clean them add a little white vinegar to the water also steam furniture leave the windows open for a few days that will help also wash all pillows and curtains wash wood down with the Murphy's you can get some candles at walmart or some place like that that are for cigarette smoke Oder they are nice
I don't know how far you want to go with it, but start by washing everything that you can: drapes, bedspreads, washable throw rugs, etc. Fabric holds the smell more than anything. You can buy cedar blocks at places like Bed, Bath & Beyond and even some grocery stores to put in your closet(s) which will help with your clothes...you can even stick a few under your couch/chairs.
Steam clean your carpet, wipe down the walls (nicotine collects on hard surfaces) if you want to go to that extreme. Febreeze is a good freshening product for furniture, it may take a couple of times, but it helps. Change your air conditioning filter if you have one.
Congratulations on kicking the habit.
Everyone's answers are great, but spray the febreze into the ventilation or heater vent. That makes it really spread around. If you have a radiator heating system, throw some old fabric dryer sheets around. If your machine washables are REALLY bad, throw 2-3 capfuls of Scope in the wash. Or use any carpet powder with CINNAMON because these two things absorb and neutralize the smoke best.
