My work shirts tend to smell sour, AFTER they are washed.?
Question:I am a very clean person, but my work shirts smell sour to me, after they have been washed and dried. They are a poly cotton blend. Is there something I can add to the wash or dry process to help them smell clean and not sour.

You can change you laundry soap to a scented one you like and use liquid fabric softener in the wash.
You can also use a dryer sheet in the dryer like fleecy but that scent won't last long, the one for the washer will keep the scent longer.
I use all of the above and my clothes smell nice for about a week in the cupboards and drawers.

I have let the washer fill up with water then added a small amount of bleach to the water. Try that.
Vinegar is supposed to remove smells. Maybe try soaking them in vinegar and water before you put them in the washer. Also, maybe trying changing which detergent you use.

Try baking soda when you wash them. Just about 1/4 to 1/2 cup along with the laundry detergent.
A cup of white vinegar in the rinse water does the trick for me. After it's dried, there is no vinegar odor. Vinegar, baking soda and amonia are the best cleaners there are, and cheap too. Bleach wears your fabrics out, and I don't like those perfume smells left over from dryer sheets, etc.
1/2cup baking soda to wash cycle and 1/2cup white vinegar to the rinse cycle. hang them in your shower to dry.
You have to make sure that you are putting your shirts into the dryer immediately after washing them, because if you let them sit wet in your washer, they WILL have a nasty sour smell.
