Can anyone suggest a method of permanently getting rid of mold in carpeting?

Question:I've already tried scrubbing and then laying it out on my roof for 12 hours on each side (in full sunlight) after removing the carpeting from my bathroom. A year or so later & I see the mold starting to surface again! Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU.

Answers:
Dehumidify the house to 40% relative humidity.

Buy new carpeting,
Mold will grow wherever there is moisture. Get rid of the moisture, and the mold will not return. In a bathroom, that most likely impossible, so the next best solution is to install tile, vinyl or some type of surface that will not hold water. Use throw rugs. They are easier to clean and keep dry.
Keep the rug dry. It isn't the same mold colony re-growing, it's the rug absorbing moisture and molding all over again. Clean it more often than once a year. Every time you clean the bathroom, let the rug sit in the sun or put it in the dryer (if it wont damage it, all depends on the fibers the rug is made of). There are mold retardants but the best one is to keep the rug dry.
