I have a few bleach spots on my black pants. They are about a year old, is it possible to re-dye?
Question:I got them From New York & company last year. Can I re-dye them?
Answers:
Re-dying may be more trouble than it is worth. Cycling the dye, especially black, out of a washing machine may take several cycles on empty being cautious to make sure all the dye is out of the system. Depending on how dressy the pants are, home dye may be a little non-uniform for the appearance you want.
Consider trying a black permanent marker on a few of the more inconspicuous spots if they are small. The ink should soak in and stick pretty well if it is a non-glossy fabric. If it works well, go in to some of the bigger/more visible spots.
Other than that, maybe switch to non-chlorine bleach for your laundry, or keep Cl bleach bottles wiped clean, all drips on surfaces tended after, and the bottle itself as isolated from your laundry as possible.
Good luck.
Of course you can... for best results use the original colour dye... chemists stock fabric dyes for as little as €1.50
well, juss do what i do, fill in the spots with a permanant marker, if you do it right, nobody will be able to tell!
it depends, if they are natural fiber, like 100% cotton, it is completely doable...'
if they are synthetic, not possible, the dye won't hold...
I have a pair of NY & Co yoga pants that are just about done, they don't have the same ones anymore, I'll be so sad when they finally do become unwearable! :(
A black Sharpie should solve your problem.
I have a bleach mark on a hooded cardigan, and the Sharpie didn't hide it, it's not even wool, but a synthetic.
Be careful when you dye your trousers, putting them in anything porous like a plastic bucket or utility sink will permanently stain your bucket or sink etc. black. I'd suggest doing it the other way, on the stove or buying a cheap big bucket and disposing of it when you're done.
