How do you get permanent marker off of a white surface eg. a fridge??

Question:i've already tried bleach hairspray etc. need a seriously creative solution or i'm majorly screwed!

Answers:
Methylated spirits. Works a treat. Truly. My dad used to use his fridge as a whiteboard, and occasionally picked up the permanent marker. methylated spirits cleans it off as if it were never there.

magic eraser
Try nail polish remover. It works on Sharpie pens. Be careful though. It might take the paint off too. I'd test it on a hidden area first.
Try some of the following items.

Isopropyl alchohol (Tape head cleaner) small amount on a tissue, wipe.
"Foaming anti static cleaner" (My fave one for this kinf of job) get it at most electronics outlets
try ajax or that Mr. Clean magic eraser thing-I do believe both will work.
Keep using the bleach. It takes a few times but it will come off eventually.
Turpentine or a turps substitute from DIY stores, or Meths.
cover it with non permanent marker and it should just wipe off
try nail varnish remover or white spirit! one of them should work x
If nothing works your only solution would be to repaint your fridge and if it is just a small mark you can use the paint for chips on fridges.
if you have any white bord pens or felt tips go over the permanent pen and befor it drys whip it off! thats what i had to do at school to clean the desks in detention! god dam! and your normaly left with a little smudge whitch most cleaners whipe off! trust me!
write in temporary marker above the permanet mark.now erase it using reqular dester or cloth.
Bilieve me it works and it's"The best method"
You can get touch up paint from the refrigerator"s manufacture
try nail polish remover hun its the beauty of tricks dont do it to the front of your fridge mind try it on a part of the fridge you cant see first then remove the pen . good luck hope this helps xxx
any alcohol and gentle abrasion.

another trick ive learned:

use those marker board markers, and color over the permanent marker stuff. then wipe it off.

its always worked for me, but again, its probably jusr because those markers are alcohol based.
try nail varnish remover
WD-40 & a soft cloth
Try spraying a bit of Greased Lightning on the mark and let sit for a few seconds. Wipe off...may need to wipe several times but that is some strong stuff and should take it off.
The two best ways to remove ink, permanent, sharpie, or any other kind are like this (and by the way, by far the least expensive is the the first):

1. regular rubbing alcohol. It's not only the least inexpensive, but won't damage the surface at all. Nail polish remover works but may damage the enamel surface of the fridge. And likely, you have some rubbing alcohol in your medecine cabinet. If not, they sell it at the dollar store.
2. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. They work well but will sometimes damage surfaces but it won't damage your fridge enamel. They're just more expensive.
Use a non-permanent marker (The kind you use for a whiteboard.) and scribble over the top of the permanent marker - this will then enable you to just wipe it away with a cloth.
I have found that nail varnish remover works most of the time to remove permanent marker but you could also try the white board markers over the top and then wipe that off. That often works as well.
Hope this helps, as I have two kids to try all my remedies out on.
Wd40 and elbow grease3
Nail polish remover should take it off. I work in a school library and we use it to wipe Sharpie marks off laminated papers and book covers.

It doesn't seem to matter if it's the kind that has acetone or not, surprisingly, so it must be another ingredient in there that's removing it.
Try using rubbing alcohol,
JML do a brilliant magic eraser that u dampen and rub off the marks. Its brilliant, u can get it off the internet or from shops like Asda, Poundstretchers, etc
White spirit.
Nail polish remover...I have had this problem over alomst every surface and every blind from the kitchen around in a circle to the dining room...i have been there done that and this is what saved me..NAIL POLISH REMOVER.

Good Luck
Acetone-based nail varnish remover usually does the job.
(But test on a hidden area first or use with care in case it takes off the white paint, too)
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, I don't know how I ever cleaned my house with out it.
Okay.I have found a product that I truly stock up on and it is only a dollar! It is called AWESOME...you can find it in the cleaning section at any Dollar Store.Big Lots...Deals. even Dollar Trees have it. I use it for everything..laundry..counters. permanent markers too.especially on fridges!! Now be careful using it on painted surfaces..it will remove the paint also. Just two days ago my neighbor was freaking out when he found his son had drawn with a perma-pen on their front door...he was trying evrything, even oven cleaner...well I whipped out the Awesome..sprayed a bit and it was gone like that!! You don't really even have to scrub...it just melts it away!!
