Kenmore washer?

Question:Does anyone know how to get the top off a kenmore washer?

Thanks!

Answers:
There are two screws on the head... The top part with the controls... Depending on the age of the washer, they could be either in front or back. And a Kenmore, they may be under the plastic endcaps. These screws are pointing partly down into the top... on the ends, but front or back... Sorry, hard to describe. Once you find them, and remove them. Th head will roll back. Now you see a plug-in near the center of the machine... unplug this- it works the lid switch. On both ends you will see a golden piece of steel, kind of twisted looking. From the front, take a screwdriver, stick it down into the steel, andpry downward... it will pop out... the first one will probably startle you... After those are removed, pull the whole thing toward you with your hand just inside the lid. And there ya go!! Three sides and the top can be put to the side!!

When you put it back together, there is one tricky part. The cabinet front slips UNDER the frame, and the back corners MUST slip over a tab on each side! All else is simple... If you have trouble just let me know.

Me, I'd call the Service Dept at Sears---especially if it's under Warrenty.
you have to take off the back and surrounding cover first.
