take it off first

Walmart, kmart, jewelry store. pick up a jar of jewelry cleaner. Drop the necklace in the little basket inside of the jar and swish it around. Use the little brush to scrub the recessed areas. Rinse, wipe, tahdah.
Toothpaste, not gel or the ones with abrasive stuff in it. And an old toothbrush. It is especially great for silver and herringbone!
for me all i know is u should use anyshit of pepper and drop the necklace in it and rob it around till u see that it getting clean . it might seem's a little bit eww to u maybe but what i do sometimes and it workes so try it.
put some warm water in a mug with a drop of dishwashing liquid, soak for about 3 minutes and scrub with a toothbrush, then rinse with clean water and buff.
For gold soak in water and a little washing powder.
For silver get silver polish.
I go to the jewelers and buy their jewelery cleaner, its inexpensive, and they have the same jewelery cleaner.
