Water soaked into carpet.!!?

Question:I recently bought a stand-up AC and it leaked water all over the carpet and I didnt notice until a couple days later.and now my carpet smells of mold and it has a white residue on top.what is the best way to get rid of this?

Answers:
I would call a professional to clean it up or get rid of the carpet.

Rent out one of those steam cleaners, but make sure you do the whole carpet, or that little bit will look alot cleaner than the rest of your carpet. good luck.
There's a chance the water has seeped into the padding underneath the carpet. If the carpet shampooing etc does not eliminate the smell, it's probably the padding from underneath.
ewwwww!..
i never heard of it having a white residue...
but you can go to home depot or any hardware store in your area.. and they will let you rent a carpet cleaner...
you should do your entire house if you are going to rent a machine tho!...
also tell them what it is for and they will probably be able to give you a good shampoo..
the machine we rented it sprayed water and soap and scrubbed when you would move forward and when you would pull it backwards it would suck up all the dirt and water...
so i think that a maching would be the best solution for you!...
good luck
