With my washing machine there, how do i connect my dishwasher to the water and waste pipes?

Question:

Answers:
First you need an inlet splitter. This is a Y shaped piece which splits the cold water supply between your washing machine and dishwasher. Both machines connect to the Y adapter using the standard pipes which are supplied with the machines.

Next you need a "dishwasher fitting kit" from stores such as B&Q. This is a waste outlet kit which contains a tool to cut a hole into your waste pipes beneath your sink. You connect the waste outlet of your dishwasher to the hole you have just cut in the pipe (pieces are provided for this).

Your washing machine can use its current outlet pipe.

This cost less than £10 and was about fifteen minutes work for me - I am far from being a plumber.

ALWAYS connected to the cold supply (how else do you do a 40 degree wash?)

Correction to the previous answer - dishwasher are usually connected to the HOT water side.

As for the drain, I'm not sure if there's a sink there, or if there's a garbage disposal, but if there is, most GDs have a hose barb that you can clamp the dishwasher drain to.

In some locations, the building codes require an air gap, which you may have seen as a small chrome (usually) piece of hardware that pokes up through kitchen sinks. The purpose is to prevent dirty water from the sink drain from flowing backwards into dishwasher.
If you have to ask then your probably better to get someone who knows what they are doing, because if you get it wrong you could end up damaging the machine or worse having a flood.
You can get a Y connections for this that you Just connect to the pipes. we have done it and works really well no leaks nothing.
I would suggest that you drill a separate hole through your wall and have a separate waste pipe as it is much easier. That way you can use both appliances at the same time and not worry that you might flood your kitchen! Use a self tapping screw on the cold water pipe - it's dead easy to do yourself. My husband did ours and he's useless at DIY!!
