Get the smell of cigarettes out of my costume!?!?
Question:I got a costume and there was a very cranky old lady who ran the place. She kept running in and out of the shop to get a smoke. All the clothes and the wig and the beard and the tights and the leather shoes etc. It's like real high end stuff (in the world of costume selling) and it's actually quite heavy... I don't think i can wash it. I was given no directions or anything for what I can do with it. This is going into middle school and I don't want to smell like smoke the whole day... won't look too good. :) Any suggestions on getting it out? Febreeze, Lysol?
Answers:
Ask if you can hang it outdoors for fresh air.then take and spray it litely with water and vinegar mixed. It will air out.if unable to hang outdoors, then put a fan on it til it dries the smell will go away when dry...
spray it with febreeze .
spray it with vodka.(the cheap one)vodka will remove the smoke Oder
Cleaners!!!
I would take two large towels and put them in water and 1 cup of vinegar (white) wring them out and put them in the dryer with the costume, on air dry or low. The vinegar is a odor eater, and I think that should do it.
Put all of it in a large garbage bag and sprinkle baking soda on it and tie it shut for a day or more. That should remove the odors without any damage.
use baking soda, soak a cloth in water and baking soda, put everything in the dryer for like 10 to 15 minutes and the smell will be gone.
I've used this product I found on Amazon with great success - you can even bring some when you're going out! Check it out: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/b000ccx...
I cleaned some clothes that were in a house fire. What you need to do is clean them like you normaly would but you need to add a half a cup of backing soda to the laundry. It will work.
