Why is my dryer burning holes in my clothes?

Question:I live in an apartment and our dryer is probably 10 or so years old and I've noticed more and more holes in my clothes. Just recently my friend and I purchased some plain white undershirts and washed/dryed them, then noticed little scorch marks all over them and holes in quite a few of them. I'm not sure how this is happening but I would like to so I could explain it to the head of our complex and get it fixed.

Also, I've tried drying it on low heat but it didn't help.

Answers:
The thermostat that regulates heat sounds like it's on the fritz causing overheating regardless of what setting it's on. If the dryers are 10 years old they definitely need to be replaced based on the frequency of use they get and I'm sure they're probably not commercial grade either. Call the maintenance people (or landlord) and explain that you're going to bill them for the cost of the ruined clothing (and actually do it!) Otherwise take your clothing to a laundrymat and do it elsewhere.

Thermostat is out, it is overheating
yes i think its the thermostat too, just explain to your landlord whats going on and have him come check it out. GL
