Should i take my Jansport leather bottom backpack to the dry cleaners?

Question:its been dirty, and well starting to smell. when i got it i told my dad i would use it for all 4 years of Highschool. right now its only been 2 1/2. should i take it to dry cleaners?

Answers:
I washed mine at home and it didn't cause any problems. The leather darkened a little, but other than that it was fine. Just machine wash it in cold water and let it air dry.

jeez , what a dilema! just Fabreez it !
HI. It should be safe to wash. I manage a cleaners, and if its made of leather (not suede leather) it should be taken to a leather cleaners. They are really expensive. I called one where I live to get a pair of Birks cleaned, and they wanted $60.! Jansport warentees all of their backpacks for life (I know, I have 2 replaced) and if it ruins, they will send you one, just call their 800 number first. Look on Jansport's website for the number. A regular dry cleaners uses a chemical called 'perk' and will not cause clothes to fade or shrink.
