Making my laundry whites, whiter without bleach?
Question:Although Im allergic to bleach, due to the chemical, and smell, I have tried the hot water and the bleach thing and even allowed it to soak for a time, but not too long. I cant figure out what to use to make my whites whiter. I tried the old fashioned blueing stuff but it didnt seem to affect the brightness, any other ideas? If the best has to do with bleach, I can have my hubby help ... Any suggestions?

what works really well is hanging it outside and let the sun bleach it...if u can stop ur washing machine before the whole cycle is finished...wring only two minutes and stop the machine and hang the material out to dry. Works best in winter. Had problems with yellow underarms on my white blouses and not even bleach helped but the sun did wonders!
Try ancient Chinese secrete.
yeh oxy clean
dont know if it will work but maybe wetting the clothes and sprinkling baking soda on it. i havent tried it but guessing that baking soda whitens teeth and cleans good, it might work. i would advise testing on a small area first. good luck!~~!~
oxy clean. even the generic brands of it work well. I'm not even allergic to bleach, but the oxy clean gets the whites whiter without damaging your clothing and it doesnt them have that bleachy smell afterwards
Vinegar.
Oxy Clean or Borax added to your usual detergent
i use baking soda and sometimes for really tough stains, i use lemons
You can also add a cup of 3% peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is a stain on clothing, pour directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.
RIT makes a product that whitens whites. You can buy it at wal mart in the RIT dyes in laundry aile.
