Is this ok??~!!~~!~~!?

Question:my 11 year old daughter washes her sheets every week. i dont wash mine for like, 2 months! is it good if she washes her sheets, pillowcases and comforter every week? i read that when kids hit puberty they get more oily and sweaty so is it a good thing that she washes them so often?

Answers:
Washing sheets weekly in hot water removes skin flakes, oils, dust & dust mites and all of the other things we don't like to think about sleeping on. It is much healthier to sleep on clean sheets!

I find the best way to make sure sheets get changed every week is to pick a day (Sunday, around here) and strip the bed after getting dressed. Once you've stripped the bed, might as well wash the sheets! I'm too lazy to fold sheets, so I wash and put the same set back on; the back-up set stays in the closet most of the time.

I have a book that is a complete guide to all of the things around the house we should take care of. I refer to it as "the house Nazi", but when I have a question about how to clean and how often to clean, I get it off the shelf again. (Home Comforts by Cheryl Mendelson). The book makes a point of discussing how we came to know so little about keeping our own homes clean. (And her advice on how to clean badly neglected shower tile was worth the price of the book!)

Certainly more often than not often enough. The cleaner the better. I change my sheets weekly. I'd say not washing them often enough is what's not okay.
i think you need to wash your sheets as much as she does. they probably stink! sheets should be washed at least once a week! puberty had nothing to do with it! i hope this is a joke.
Sheets should be changed/washed weekly.including yours!! (shaking head.I can only imagine what your bed smells like...ewwwwwwwww!)
Bedding should be washed every week. Every 2 months, EWWWW!! Your daughter is right.
get the film about the bugs that live in your bed and on your sheets and pillows.
Your sheets & pillowcases should be washed every week, the mattress cover every 3 weeks or so, more often in the summer.the pillows thrown out and replaced when they start getting lumpy, mattress vaccumed once a month and flipped over. quilt and blankets should be washed frequently and hung out to air...she is right...
I wash my sheets once a week, and I'm 30. It just feels better to me to start the week with fresh, clean bed linens. Now, I don't wash my duvet every week. I'll wash it once a month. I also have really bad allergies, so washing my linens often keeps me from having allergy attacks.
It is great that she is doing this. You should be too. Have you ever seen what a dust mite looks like? They eat the flakes of dead skin that fall off your body every day...Yuck!

I can't believe you go that long without washing your sheets. You must not have allergies. I sleep so much better on clean sheets. I have friends who change their sheets every two or three days. You might not wash your comforter every week, but at least every couple of weeks. It collects dust, pollen, anything that is in the air. Your daughter is doing a very healthy thing, and she probably sleeps much better for it.

PS, this will give you a good idea for birthday and other presents for her. She will be needing new sheets and a comforter by then won't she?
It's great that she washes her sheets & pillow cases weekly but as far as washing the comforter that often, that's a bit much. If she washed the comforter once or twice monthly, that'd be sufficient. I don't mean to be rude, mom, but how can you stand to sleep in sheets that are only washed every two months? The thought of it makes my skin crawl. Maybe you could take a lesson from your 11 y/o huh?
I agree, better to wash sheets more often than not often enough. I don't do my sheets every week, but I do do them every two weeks. But growing up we did them every week. I don't know how you can manage to go 2 months on dirty sheets. I've left mine for longer than 2 weeks on occasion, and by the 3rd and 4th weeks, I can't deal any longer. Your daughter is right, washing sheets every week is a good thing. Comforter could maybe take a little less washing, like most people said once a month or so. Take a little hint from your daughter. At least do your sheets once a month.
It's ok to wash weekly, thou the norm would be about once in 2 weeks.
Tell me that you are kidding when you say that you don't wash yours "for like, 2 months"...
Urg.
Take a lesson from your 11 year old. It's a good thing.
(Every 2 weeks is nearly too long between washings.)
