I have a house guest coming...?

Question:They will be here for 8 days! How do I make everything look and smell very clean? I clean regularly but dirt gets into corners and cracks. I have two cats so there is a lot of cat hair it seems it is impossible to keep the hair under control. I can tidy up, mop, sweep, vacuum, and all of the basic things that one would do in a cleaning routine. What else should I do?

Answers:
Your company already knows you have the cats. I would just do what I normally do, maybe a few extras, like washing the window in the kitchen if you have on, wash out your fridge and put an orange or lemon down your garbage disposal to freshen up the smell in your kitchen. Of course you'll want the bathrooms to begin clean, set out some guest towels, put clean sheets on the beds and then either sit back and relax, or cook somethings up ahead of time. Enjoy your company. please don't wear yourself out trying to make your home spotless, no home is like that in real life with out a maid daily.
Have fun with your friends.

Brush your cats everyday and try using the vacumm cleaner on them every other day to get all that loose hair off so it wont get everywhere. Use glad oil plug ins around the house and block them so the smell can get out but the cats away from them. Use dusters to get into those small cracks that have the little frilly things around them they are so light that they can fit inbetween a cup with water and another one not filled to clean so they are very handy!!
I would clean the guest bedroom totally (but wash the sheets the morning of their arrival so that they smell fresh). After you clean the room, shut the cats out so no cat hair can get in there.
Walmart carries things called filtermates that go in your air conditioner that is like a airfreshner they work well. Also I would just do the normal and before they get there I would clean and bleach the litter box. I have also found some different scented pinesol which is a good cleaner and it leaves the house smelling clean and fresh.
Apologise to your little kitty-cats and make them a new temporary home in your laundry area. If they are very upset about this then you may need to find a pet deterrent product to keep them away from certain areas such as the guest room - or as the other person answered - keep the guest room closed. Clean everything well and then before they arrive do a final clean with a really fresh smelling cleaner - like in a lovely fresh ocean or lemon fragrance and maybe have a big vase of fresh scented flowers (jonquils or stock) and either plug in freshners or something. Maybe the kitties need to have a holiday at a pet place for the week? Do your guests have a problem with cats? Maybe your cats can go to the cat beauty parlor (like doggies often do) and be pampered to get rid of all the loose hair?
Get yourself a "SHED ENDER" I got one for my cat and I was amazed at all the hair I have combed off of her. Less hair on the cat, less hair in your house.

You can find them at PET MART, if you need one ASAP.
Hope this helps.
