How do I remove the odor of fried fish from my house!?
Question:I made fish tacos the other night and the smell of the fried fish will not leave! I've tried fabreeze, candles, and open windows- HELP!
Answers:
Find an old used pot, get some cinamon sticks-good ones, and maybe some apple cinamon potporie and boil with water. Keep refreshing the water and keep boiling. Sometimes I add scented oils, essential oils are good.
Hmmm..those methods usually work well. You might want to try them all again.
Put a pot of water on to boil, add vinegar, turn down the gas and leave it simmer, this will rid the smell, Just remember to top up the water in the pot, every now & then
Try burning incense a few sticks should do it. After they've burned for a little while move them into another room. That should work. Also, spray the febreeze on your sofa, cushions, curtains, etc. If the smell is that bad, I suggest the next time you cook fish to wash it properly halve and squeeze a lemon rubbing it onto the fish and rinse it off, make sure to rinse the fish otherwise the acid will begin to 'cook' it. Before you begin cooking open your windows, light your candles and/or burn the incense or you could put a few cinnamon sticks and the peel of an orange into a small saucepan with some water and let that simmer while you cook. You can try one or two of the above and I can guarantee no fishy smells.
get a litre of white vinegar. Set it in tupperware bowls all over your house (half cup in each bowl). The smell of vinegar goes away fast, and the vinegar "soaks up" other nasty smells in the air- I use a fresh bowl of it beside my cat litter once a week, it works wonders!! It doesn't cover up the smell, it gets rid of it!
I would try Backing Soda. Backing soda left out in small dishes absorbs bad smells like smoke.
