My toilet bowl has developed rust stains and i can't get rid of them. Know any causes for it? solutions?

Question:I already tried different cleansers and rust removers, but the stains only fade a little. Is it hopeless?

Answers:
You need to use a bowl cleaner that has Hydrochloric acid in it. Just read the labels on toilet bowl cleaners. Plunge out all the water you can ,add it to the bowl and use a brush. It should be gone in seconds. Be cautious when using this chemical don't get it on your skin or in your eyes and don't inhale it. If it is not gone in seconds keep brushing the chemical over the surface. This will work. You may have some spots that the brush will not get well or if it is crusty or hardened you can use a razor blade to scrape it it will leave gray marks which you can remove with comet very easily. But don't mix these chemicals together!!

Rust is caused from the pipe used your house. An industrial strength rust/stain remover may help which can be picked up at a local hardware store or for something better try going to a tile outlet center. They carry far better quality products to rid those stains. You could also try household products such as bleach or ajax and scrub it really well.
your water has too much iron in it. there are chemical cleaners to remove it easily. see yur supermarket shelves
Are you sure it is rust? It may be just dried water. Seriously. There were spots like that I thought would never come off. Here is a tip if it is what I think it is. Buy sand paper, spray scrubbing bubbles or what have you and just scrub hard on the spots. They'll be gone. Good luck.
good luck. i've had them forever. i've tried just about everything other people have recommended on here, with no avail. we have such hard water, the toilet stays stained around the water line and some lines coming down. and it also makes the sink rust pretty fast too, sometimes even after leaving a pot or something in there for over a day. i also had bad effects from it on my hair. i had such long hair and when we moved in here after showering every time my hair would feel, sticky like and just icky. it got to the point where i couldnt even brush through it, it felt so gunky. i eventually cut it off i got so tired of it. but, anyway, i haven't found anything that works. ive tried bleach, clr , etc...if you find something that works please let me know!

I pour clorox bleach in and let it sit for about 30 minutes
When I bought my house, the toilet had exactly same problem as you have described and I used a variety of cleaners to remove it, but it did not help.
Finally, some one who is a caretaker in an apartment building, suggested me to use Kemsol Heavy Duty Bowl Cleaner and all stain was gone 100% within few minutes.

You may not find same product in your area but I'm writing the contents of this product for the reference, you may be able to find similar product in your area:
An extra heavy-duty toilet bowl and urinal cleaner that cleans, deodorizes in one quick and easy operation. This product is a scientific blend of hydrochloric acid, detergents, and corrosion inhibitors, which perform with space age efficiency to clean even the most difficult bowl or urinal.
(make sure, there should be no water in the toilet bowl.

Also, if nothing is working, then you may like to replace the toilets as it does not cost you too much money ($30 and up) plus plumbing cost or if you can do yourself.

Good luck
Try a pumice stone. But be gentle while scrubbing with it.
do you have really hard water? we do and we get horrible rust stains and even deposits. One thing we've found that helps is occasionally (at least once a week) letting it set with lemonshine in the bowl. My mom had to try to get rid of some really bad stuff and teh only thing she found that she could use was scraping it with an old credit card. Rather unorthadox and icky, but it worked!
Buy some denture cleanser tablets and put them ..4 - 6 in the toilet overnight. Flush and repeat if necessary.
having hard water causes it . lime away works really good for that , it worked good for me
