What is the best way to get rid of soap scum in your bathtub?

Question:I have tried cleaners and none seem to work. What have ya'll found to work?

Answers:
It was suggested to me many times that a mixture of vinegar and water on a rough sponge or scour pad will work nicely, and it did.

A wire scrubber & cleanser.
fill the bath up with water and pour in lots of bleach let soak for one hour. This should do it for you.
I've used Lysol Basin Tub & Tile cleaner with a sponge that has a scrubby side. It works great on my cast iron bath tubs. It foams when you spray and I just let it sit for a minute and then use the rough side of the sponge and scrub it off. It doesn't take a lot of work unless it's pretty bad. It also works good on the tile in the shower, toilet rims, and sink countertops.
mr. clean magic eraser works great but if it is real bad you will need more than one eraser. also you can try the blue tire cleaner that you use on your car tires that also works well
I believe good old Comet and a scour pad work best for this job. There are sprays and gels but most have bad fumes to go along with them. If you don't want to do all that bending to reach the far side of the tub, you might want to pick up something like a Scotch Brite shower & bath scrubber at your local Wal-Mart or Target but I have have the best results with the little cheap green scrubie pads and the Comet with bleach.
I have glass shower doors and tile - so my soap scum showed up REALLY clearly. This drove me NUTS. I use a cheap shampoo (.99 cent bottle at Walmart) and a green scratch pad. Everytime I took a shower - for about 2 weeks, I would put a little shampoo and scrub down one of the glass walls (my shower is 2 sides tile, 2 sides glass).

It is the act of scrubbing that removes the soap scum - not the product. I would rinse it really well, and then squeegee the glass before getting out.

After a couple of weeks - my shower doors were spotless. Then I took plan old regular car wax, and waxed the doors. This keeps the soap scum from building up again.

Good luck.

If it's really tough, use a non-scratching cleanser like Bon Ami or just plain old baking soda to scrub it clean.

Once you've gotten it clean, use some auto wax on the SIDES ONLY of the tub - it would make the bottom dangerously slippery. The wax will stop the soap from sticking.

This usually builds up when the water isn't draining quickly enough - make sure you clean out the drain as well to stop the buildup.
