How to repair a whirlpool cabrio washer LD error?

LD stands for long drain. When this happened to us, they had to come and replace the pump. The technician told us that we should always use HE (high efficiency) detergent to keep the pump working optimally. I also found info online about a class action suit against Whirlpool, b/c their Calypso washing machine pumps were going bad right after the warranty expired. It might be happening with the Cabrio washers as well.
unplug it... wait 20 seconds... replug . if it is still there . look up the error in the manual or call the manufacturer
