I use a product called Simple Green. It is non toxic made with natural product and can be used on any item. IT would be great for your griddle. IT is a good on grease. Most grocery store sell Simple Green and places like Wal-Mart. I use this product in my home.

Fairy Active Foam is the one Ainsley was advertising
It's Fairy Power Spray, and it can be bought in most supermarkets and hardware stores.
The thing is with a cast iron griddle you are not supposed to use any form of cleaning agent at all. Once you have used it you should scrub it with a stiff brush and plain hot water and when dry apply a thin wipe of oil with a kitchen towel. This way the "seasoning" builds up and it becomes naturally non stick. Then each time you use it you must get it smoking hot before adding the food which bakes the coating to the iron The same principle applys to a plain steel wok which is totally ruined if you use anything but water to clean it. The griddle obviously turns black but this is normal and indeed desirable as that is proof that you are looking after it properly. Hope that helps.
There is a product on the market where you put your oven shelves { or from the barby } in a bag, & it cleans it, is that the one you mean ?, try Robert Dyas, or maybe B& Q
dont believe in ainsley harriot. his businesslike joy has something of the night about it
Fairy Power Spray. It's very good. If your griddle is really bad, you may have to do it a couple of times.
