Well water deposits and crud on my drinking glasses are things I don't want to ingest.?

Question:I rent a house with well water. There is always some kind of deposit that settles in the bottom of a glass of water after it sits for a little while. Is there a simple way to eliminate this? Is it something the landlord should take care of? And, what is this stuff? Also, there are always bits of crud that dry on the inside of my glasses in the dishwasher. I've tried vinegar and peroxide, neither eliminate it. HELP! This is gross!

Answers:
Your well needs a water softener to remove the excess calcium in the water (it probably already has one, it just needs to be serviced) as well as a filter to remove turbidity, which is silt in the water (again, it probably already has one but the filter needs to be changed). This should solve the problem. Your landlord is (probably) responsible for this.

sounds like you have
hardwater deposits settling on your glasses
and dishwater

you need a water conditioner to remove that from
your water

try using a filter on your drinking water
Try Diamond Brite...no need to get all the extras you have to buy with wash sheilds and such...just diamond brite is awesome.
Buy some denture cleaner tablets--generic brand, the most you can get. Put one in each glass, along with some bottled or filtered water, and the glasses should get clean again.
Definitely drink bottled or filtered water.
