I would say that it also depends on the tog as some duvets are much thicker than others.
Laundrettes have 8kg washing machines. You could pop along to one and see if yours will fit.
it all depends on your spin cycle and how fast it is. ...just bung it in and cross your fingers. or buy a new one.
p.s. what did you do that was so minging that you need to wash it?
If it is machine washable then yes. I've done a double & single size and they come out great.
hi there, i have a 10kg machine, mine can take single duvets, it can also take a double, but i found that it did not wash it through properly, i would suggest taking it to a launderette for a good clean, but if you are only freshening it up and it is not a heavy duvet, look at the care label and follow the instructionsxx
it will most likely wash a single duvet .A double would fit if you squash it in but it won't wash very good as it wont be able to turn and this might damage your washing machine
First, see if your duvet will physically fit in the washer. If it will, then weigh it - best method is to weigh yourself on the bathroom scales, then pick up the duvet and weigh yourself again, and subtract one reading from the other. 8 kg is quite a lot - it's well over a stone.
But even if it's OK on both bulk and weight, don't try it if the duvet is filled with feathers or down!
I once got a local launderette to wash and spin mine, but a damp duvet can be quite a weight to carry home.
It would be nice to have a hot sunny day or two to dry it out properly, but in this so called summer there doesn't seem much chance of that!.
