How do you get hair off a sponge mop?
Question:Even though I vacuum before I mop I always have hair on the mop from my pets. When it dries I can pick some off but it still looks nasty and I end up buying a new mophead.
Answers:
Let the mop dry. Then use strips of any kind of tape, packing tape is best because the adhesive is stronger, to pick up the hairs. Use this tip to pick up any kind of lint or hair.
One of those lint rollers with tape might also work well.
It doesn't matter what your mop LOOKS like. However, vacuuming the floor is not a good idea. Dry mop your floor with something like a swiffer, this is more efficient at collecting dust and hair.. when it is done you just throw that little pad away. Then mop as usual. If it really bothers you, I would buy a swiffer mop as well. Those one time use pads are key to not having to worry about cleaning the very thing you are using to DO the cleaning.
When I need to remove alot of hair off of some thing I take some duct tape and wrap it around my hand with the sticky side on the out side. Then I go and roll my hand across any thing that has hair on it. I even use it to get hair off of clothing. Its fast and cheep.
