How do u get the smell of curry out of the house?
Question:we have just moved in to a new flat and the previous tenets have left a really strong curry smell
Answers:
Vinegar. It neutralizes most odors. Mop the floors with a cup or two added to a bucket of water. Spray the carpet with it, etc.
Windows can be cleaned with a combination of 1 cup ammonia & 1 cup vinegar added to a bucket of water. Sponge on and use newspaper to dry the glass with. They will sparkle, orders will be dimished, and you have saved money to boot.
I would probably put charcoal in some throw away containers and ut them in the closets, under the bed, and other hidden places. After a couple of weeks toss the container and charcoal.
Hope these ideas help.
Lots of air fresheners, hire a carpet cleaner (like a vacuum that washes) and scour all the carpets, and if it's really bad dampen a large brush and have a go at the walls. Don't bother leaving windows open, because if it's that bad it's engrained! It's probably in the carpets - just like cigarette smoke clings to clothing, so do odours to carpets and furniture.
Boil Pots of water with lemon, or use cinnamon sticks, and let it just simmer on stove top, so the aroma lingers through the apartment.
do not use air fresheners...they just cover odors not eliminate them...we cook curry in our house...even though we cook it in a kitchen we have outside the leftover smell can still be there...what my mom does is boil vinegar...it eliminates the odor.dont worry your house wont smell like vinegar instead...just neutral...or they do have a spray that is especially made to eliminate odors...the spray itself has no odor...
Definitely have the carpet cleaned and use air freshners (candles, plug-ins, etc.). Scubbing the walls will also help and if possible, have them repainted, including ceiling since the smell travels up. When I repaint a room, it smells brand new once the paint smell fades after a couple of days.
Good luck.
Get rid of cooking smells:
Let simmer a small pot of vinegar and water solution
