How can I safely remove gasoline from my husbands's jeans?

Question:He soaked them in the sink with laundry detergent for hours, and they still smell like gas.

Answers:
Try putting them in the machine and wash with soap and vinegar and air dry.It worked on diesel from my hubby.

Use a match. Comet can take the gas smell from your hands, but I do not know about clothing.
Baking soda removes many odors, but gasoline is one of the more stubborn odors to remove. Vinegar and Coke have been said to work. There are also some commercial products available, but I can't speak to the effectiveness of those products.
Tide and washing machine of heavy duty
I was a mechanic for several years, Tide soap then after they come out of the dryer hang them outside over night.
Wash them in the washer in warm water. You may need to rewash if the smell remains. After that dry as usual.
Wash them with tide or cheer and put plenty of downey in your rinse water and then hang them on the clothes line!
