Baking soda
For that short a period, just make sure it is dry inside. Use a hair dryer if you need to get out some moisture or condensation. Then, ship it off and it will be just fine.
Coffee grounds. You fill some old (but clean) socks with coffee grounds. That would be dry and not used coffee grounds to be specific. Then all you do is tie off the ends of the socks and place them in the frig.
I would give it a complete scrub down with a pail of soapy water with about 1/4 cup of bleach added in. Be sure to wear gloves while using your sponge. I would then dry all areas well and if you can prop the door open just a bit would allow for ventilation so the orders wont get trapped inside. I would suggest taking some thick foam insulation striping and running in down the length of the door then tape the door almost shut with heavy duty tape and secure with a rope. If you plan to store it for any reason before using it. remember to leave it open.
All you really have to do is stick a medium sized box of baking soda in there, and it will assure it that there will be no smell.
Scrub it completely
But not with bleach... I would use Borax and warm water
Leave the borax residue on the inside of the refrigerator
Wipe it off when it arrives
Then if needed, follow with Odo-Ban to kill any mold or any musty smell
this will (1) de-oderaize any oders that you don't know are currently there (2) absorbs oders while it is unplugged... warm refrigerator is an odor/mold factory
baking soda in a sock!
Put about 5 pounds of charcoal in it. Charcoal absorbs odors.
Hardwood works best.
Don't worry about it until you get there, yes clean it good before you leave and clean again when you get there!
Using baking soda to clean it is a good idea and then just leave a box in the fridge and freezer once you turn it on.
some one said to make sure it is really dry before you leave, another good idea.
it should be fine..
Good luck
I would spray it out with windex and then put a box of baking soda in it. Get the box of baking soda that is make to be put in the refrigerator.
clean the heck out of it then pack it with newspaper after it dries out. final note either take door off or tape board or small box in the door to prevent it from closing and sealing. this will keep it from rotting before it dries out.
also, have you ever heard of anyone complaining about the smell of newspaper when they move. most dishes are packed with the stuff HINT
