Answers:
Spray it with some bathroom cleaner specifically designed to stop mildew, I believe Lysol has one. If the mildew's not too bad, it might get rid of it, and sometimes it discourages it from growing back. You can take down the liner and wash it in warm water, detergent, and a little bleach in the washing machine on gentle. Just don't put it in the dryer. Sometimes that gets rid of it. If all else fails, I just buy a new liner since they're only $2-3 dollars at Walmart, K-Mart, Target, etc.

In any area that contains high moisture content, you need air movement. A ceiling exhaust fan is the best way to achieve this. They should be left on for 20 to 30 minutes after using a shower.
The best way to stop mildew from growing on a shower curtain liner is to stop using the shower for bathing. Use a bleach containing product or a solution of diluted bleach to clean the shower curtain. You may want to improve ventilation in the bathroom by running a fan or leaving an open window after bathing. Eventually, you will need to replace the shower curtain liner. They are inexpensive.
Mix up about 2 cups of water with about 2 tablespoons of bleach. Put in spray bottle and close the curtain stand in the shower and spray.

I actually take mine down and put in a light load of towels and wash it in the washer. Put it in the dryer for a short period of time and pull out and HANG IMMEDIATELY. Gently pull it down so all of the wrinkles relax out .

Now I only buy the $2.59 shower liners from target and they wash fine. But I have ruined one shower curtain doing this. The wrinkles set and NEVER relaxed out. I had to trash it.

Good Luck.
i dont know how to stop it from growing, i guess its from when everyone takes a shower and doesnt clean it thoroughly. the stuff you buy for your house wont really work; i've tried them all. Try Rubbermaid ProfessionalPlus Instant Mildew Stain Remover. It really works. I got this at Wal-Mart in the hardware department. Why hardware? I dont know. But, all i do is spray it on and leave it for a few minutes and wipe it off. No scrubbing. And its not that strong; it smells like bleach. So, go get it and use it. Thats nasty to wake up for a clean refreshing shower only to see that stuff. Ewww
To remove what's there now, take the curtain down and go over the spots with vinegar on a cloth or sponge. Once it's clean, rehang the curtain. To prevent the mildew from returning, keep a spray bottle of vinegar in the shower and spray the curtain after each use of the shower (or every 2nd or 3rd time).
I don't know if there is a sure fire way to stop mildew, but I would suggest you try this: After each shower, spray the liner with a combination of vinegar and water.
To remove existing mildew, I use Scrubbing Bubbles. Just spray and let it sit a minute, and the mildew should rinse right off with water.
to get it off, spray with a mixture of 2 cups water and 2 tablespoons clorox bleach. Wipe off. Repeat until stain is gone. To prevent, use same mixture and spray curtain after showers every day, no need to wipe. Leave shower curtain spread out so it will dry. You need to have air movement in the bath after showers. Use a fan or best a ceiling fan and leave on for 30 minutes to an hour.
Wash it with a load of towels every month or so.
My husband and I had the same problem, but we bought a Scrubbing Bubbles automatice shower cleaner about a month ago, and we haven't had any problems with ANY filth since then.
after showering mist it with 1 tablespoon of bleach in a large squirt bottle filled with water leave open to dry do every other week (only if it vinyl or plastic).
