How to clean a grotty fridge?
Question:Hello, I need advice on helping a family member clean her home, and the first thing I need to do is clean her fridge - I am sure she's never cleaned it! It has built up muck and stains from goodness knows what on it. I've tried wiping it down for her and soaking the shelves, but can't remove this buildup of "stuff". It also appears that some kind of sticky candy/lolly has been melted in the fridge and in the freezer compartment - I can't seem to prise it off either!! Any suggestions??

Start by wiping out any and everything you can with hot water and soap. Follow that by using comet with bleach spray. You may even need to use a razor blade to scrape the goopy stuff off. Then follow up with clorox santizing spray. Its safe to use around food and small kids.
The best thing to do is take everything out of the fridge and buy a bottle of "Dawn Power Dissolver" comes in a blue bottle. Spray the whole fridge down and let sit for 20 min. Then take a scrubby pad and start scrubbing at it. If there's still a bunch caked on, just spray and wait and scrub again. This worked for me helping my sister clean her fridge, which seems like the one u describe. That dawn stuff works really good. Good Luck!
Hi. Try **** and Span, < the powder, not the liquid>mixed with very warm water, and a scrubby sponge. Another product that works very well is Barkeepers Friend. You can find it in most grocery/discount stores near the other powder cleansers. This product also works well on sinks, stainless steel, and in cleaning the grout between tiles.
Baking soda and water works too. You might need to put a cloth soaked in it over the worst parts and let it soak a while.
My suggestion would be to use one of the spray on oven cleaners. That stuff will take anything off. However, spray test a little in an inconspicuous place to make sure it won't eat through the plastic. Also, read the warnings on the can. It would certainly work on glass but might not on rubber and plastic.

Since it is a fridge dont use any harsh chemicals. Use dawn dishwashing soap and also use lemon juice. The lemon has acidity elements and it deodorizes also.
