What's your favorite cleaning tip?

Question:The other day I saw the women on "How Clean is Your House?" polishing brass using catsup.

Do you have any little-known household hint?

Answers:
here is a pretty weird one: sneeze the dust away, that works!

Bleach girl! Lot's of it!
Sure do. Get a maid.
yeah, get a spouse to do it for you!
Toothpaste does wonders on jewelry. Just brush gently so as not to scratch your stone. Works great on gold too.
Use Brasso on Brass and Silver ! Catsup ? I would think its just the Vinegar and acidity of the tomatos in the ketchup. I would think the Fructose in the catsup would attract bugs
when you change you bedding, vaccuum your mattress, gets rei of all the horrible spidy things (i cant remember what there called), they live in your mattress and eat cead skin cells and sweat!! and most people are allergic to there poo!!
I love using cheap shampoo to clean my shower & tub. I found a cloth that has a texture (but won't scratch fiberglass) to apply it with.

If you feel a little resistance, it is grime and just go at it. Now everytime I shower, I just wash one little area of the shower (keep rotating around) and it is always spotless!

BTW, I love this question!
Glass cleaner
1/2 cup of white ving
1 qt (4 cups) of water in a spray bottle

bathroom cleaner
baking soda and water

furniture polish
1 ounce of lemon juice
2 ounce of cooking oil
I watched Oprah the other day talking about the environment, and a lady on there recommended METHOD cleaning products. I'm now a huge fan of METHOD!! They make all purpose cleaning wipes and a spray bottle all-purpose cleaner, and I cleaned my whole kitchen with them--It was actually EASIER than cleaning with bleach!! Best of all, their stuff won't harm your eyes, nose, or skin; its natural, and comes in yummy scents like pink grapefruit, cucumber, lavender, and unscented. I thought my stove top would never come clean, but guess what; its sparkling like new now! I can't stop telling everyone I know. METHOD also makes hand soap, hand sanitizer, dish soap, laundry detergent, reusable washable specialty cleaning cloths, and whatever you can imagine. Believe it or not, it's very affordable. Look for them at Target, Staples, or at http://www.methodhome.com/

Also, so as not to sound like a Method commercial, consider this: Soda (any cola will do) will clean toilets and unclog drains. Switching to florescent light bulbs will save a ton on your electric bill (plus they last for years); so will cleaning out your dryer filter every time you use it. (I know that's not necessarily cleaning tips, but I'll save money any way that's easy!).

For fabrics, I LOVE Febreeze Anti-Microbial. In place of fabric softener sheets, I like to spray it into the dryer with the damp clothes. It makes them smell fresh and extra clean. I also use it on furniture, shoes, and my son's stuffed animals; things you can't just throw in the wash.
1. Replace your a/c filters frequently..It really helps in keeping your air and furniture cleaner. Dirty filters = Dirty House, plus it helps to reduce you electric cost.

2. Mr. Clean erasers are wonderful at removing just about any stain.

3. Plain old rubbing alcohol works great on shining up bathroom fixtures
One of my favorites came from Martha Stewart: use your favorite air freshener to clean mirrors. Just use it like you would glass cleaner. It works just as well and makes it smell nice. :)

To clean the walls and ceiling, I use my swiffer with a rag instead of one of the sheets, and it works great.

I use Pledge to clean shoes and purses made of synthetic materials ("pleather", vinyl).
Hair spray takes ballpoint pen ink out of clothes in a jiffy. Just spray the stain, then wash as usual.
Use baking soda in the laundry to freshen the smell. Place about a 1/2 cup of baking soda in a cereal size bowl and let sit out. You will freshen the air without perfumes or chemicals. Also, sprinkle baking soda on your carpet and let set 5 minutes to freshen. To freshen your matress, sprinkle with baking soda and leave alone for about 2 hours then just vacuum off, this freshens it and vacuuming gets the bed mites off. Also prevents bed bugs!
Baby wipes!! They are amazing for cleaning. I use them to wipe up spills on the counter, dust, wipe off the toilet seat when my man's aim is a little off. They are great at getting stains out of carpet and even some furniture.
Two favorite cleaning needs that makes cleaning easier...

1.) Magic Eraser, for everything

2.) Orange glo stick I use one for wood floors and one for tile floors an linoleum cleans in spaces better than a mop and you can wash the pad so its clean everytime not holding the dirt from last cleaning like regular mops and sponges do.
ORVUS made by proctor and gamble and sold in farm suply places it is great for cleaning windows 1 tablespoon to half bucket and and two cloths for washing and one for drying and you dont have to dry all the way and you will have steak free windows. Plus you can clean spots off of clothes you can even wash your clothes in it 1 tablespoon goes along way and you can wash your cat/dog in it too. A+A+A+ reserch it for your self.
