What is a good way to clean a baseball cap??
Question:When it gets yucky? I'd prefer NOT to put it in the dishwasher. That just seems gross. Any other ideas?
Answers:
dishwasher works great, they even have a plastic hat form to help it keep its shape and the brim of the cap wont get screwed up like it will in the washing machine-
dishwasher is best solution
Always used the dishwasher, but the washing machine is ok as long as it's not a real stiff hat.
stem it with a blow dryer and add crushed mothballs to it. the it clean
just don't put it in the dishwasher with your dishes. if you have a clean diswasher that shouldn't be gross at all.
I have a plastic hat form that keeps its shape and I usually do put them in the dishwasher, which, as you point out, is weird.
If I had a front load washer I might try that but my top load washer would probably eat hats.
Wash it in the washer and when it's done put it on something that's round like the hat. then let it dry from there. It wroks all the time. Better then the dishwasher.
try baby wipes their great for cleaning a lot of things
Fill your sink half way with warm soapy water (I use Dawn). Dip the hat in, and use a dish or vegetable or nail brush to scrub it. When you're done, rinse it well and hang it up to dry.
I do this all the time to my boyfriend's hats, and they get black with all the dirt and grease and whatnot. They come out looking like brand new!
Use the cap form and toss in the laundry. Let air dry with the form on it. (Wash on normal cycle with the rest of your laundry.)
They sell these things at Wal-Mart that are like those wire basket shelve things in the shape of a cap. You open it up and put the cap in it and can throw it in the washing machine. I never put them in the dishwasher either but did in the washing machine and it worked okay. Then you set it outside while still in that basket thing to dry. It takes a long time to get them to dry, but if you let them wear it before it is dry they will smell even worse.
you can go to Wal mart and buy a ball cap shaper thingy LOL and you can put it in the washing machine. Or the best way i think is to just wash it by hand with soap and water in the sink.
