Has anyone used distilled vinegar for household cleaning?
Question:If so, what and where. How do you like the turn out of using distilled vinegar vs. cleaning products?
Answers:
I go thru tons of vinegar and buy it at a discount warehouse store in large quantities. I use it 1/2 and 1/2 with water in a spray bottle for my countertops. You can use it in the fridge or freezer in a small dish to deodorize. I always use it in the washer in the final rinse to clean detergent residue off clothing and it softens very well. Then I use the dryer balls - so I don't have to use the toxic dryer sheets that are bad for people and the environment.
For athletic clothing - you can soak in vinegar and baking soda to diminish odors.
For drains - you can help keep them fresh and clog-free by using vinegar and baking soda - first pour in baking soda, then some vinegar.
You can deodorize trash cans and litter boxes with that combination also.
Vinegar can be used to keep a coffee pot free of mineral buildup.
It's also good in the dishwasher once in a while to refresh it and keep residue down.
First off its cheaper.. I use it when I clean my mirrors in the house. Some people also use it to clean jewelry.
Vinegar is a multi-purpose product. It can be used for literally thousands of tasks. You can use it for health purposes, for beauty (hair and bath), food and cooking, gardening, and house cleaning.
House cleaning is one important use for vinegar. Using vinegar instead of other products that contain harsh chemical can be a great choice for the health of your family. Why expose yourself and your family to harsh chemicals contained in cleaning products when you have a safer alternative that works just as well or better than other cleaners. There are several advantages to using vinegar instead of other cleaning products. One, it is a natural substance and is safer and healthier. Another advantage is that it is less expensive than commercial cleaners and it is readily available.
Here are five ways you can use vinegar in your household cleaning routine:
Window cleaning: Mix with water or use full strength to clean windows, glass and mirrors. Dry with crumpled newspaper to get a fresh streak free shine every time. It removes water spots and dirt for cleaning windows indoors and outside.
Floor cleaner: It is safe on your no wax vinyl, wood and tile floors. It removes dirt and build-up while leaving the floor looking clean and shiny. Add a ½ cup of vinegar to 1 gallon of water and mop up those dirty, messy floors with ease. You can also use it in the spray mops for quick clean-ups.
Dishes/dishwasher: Use vinegar in your dishwasher to remove build-up from the dishwashing detergent or use it as a rinse aid to leave your dishes streak-free. Run a cup of vinegar through a full dishwashing cycle once a month to clean and deodorize your dishwasher. Also you can use it in the sink in hot water with dish soap to remove soap build-up and water deposits from glassware.
Oven Cleaner: Use vinegar as a final rinse when you are cleaning your oven with the harsh alkali cleaners that stay in your oven and stink-up your kitchen when you use the newly cleaned oven after you scrub. Wipe the entire oven with vinegar to remove the chemical build-up and to freshen and polish the inside of the oven after a deep cleaning. It can also be used on self-cleaning ovens.
Washing Walls: Vinegar can remove harsh stains from walls with ease. It can remove nicotine stains if you have smokers or pen and crayon from little ones. Use vinegar just to wipe down your walls for normal washing; it absorbs odors and cleans the walls without striping the paint. Vinegar is a natural neutralizer, so it will freshen the air and leave your house smelling clean.
The cleaning tips I listed above are just a few of the household items and appliances that you can clean using vinegar. Vinegar can be used to safely clean just about anything in your home. Vinegar is one of the oldest cleaning products. It has been used for generations to keep things looking clean and smelling fresh. There are different kinds of vinegar you can purchase. The two that work best for house cleaning are distilled white vinegar and apple cider vinegar. If you can protect your family’s health, use a natural cleaner that actually works and keeps your house looking and smelling clean. Hope this helps .
Yes, I mix 1/4 cup vinegar, 1/3 cup oxyclean, and 1/4 cup detergent to 20 ounces of hot water to make a cleaning spray for my carpet. It's great for pet accidents too. The smell might linger for some hours, but I use fabreeze to deodorize if I'm having visitors. It really works great.
i use it everyday and in every way. from floor cleaner to fabric softener. We are an Eco family and keeping hazardous chemicals out of our home is a top priority.ever read the ingredients in that other stuff. I had to play a little with each recipe to find what i liked but i have never been happier.

Hi there! You don't need distilled vinegar. Any vinegar is OK. But the best to use is white vinegar. Half vinegar'half water, you can get stains out of carpet. And you can use for cleaning most things. Personally I like to use a commercial cleaner. You can still get herbal ones, but I wouldn't like everything smelling of vinegar. But the best uses for vinegar are as a sunburn remedy(1/2 vin 1/2 water),and cider vinegar ,for treating Athrhitis. Two teaspoons Vin.Honey,water-glassful. But if you have weak stomach it's not a good idea. You can also use vinegar as a hair rinse, and is good for treating head lice. The other use- if you take shower head off and soak it in neat vinegar,it will clean the hard water deposits in the shower head. Good luck!
Yes! Any vinegar will work... dilute it with water and use it anywhere. It is great for removing calcium buildup in the bathroom, window cleaning, toilet cleaning... anything!
I use vinegar to clean and polish the chrome faucets and handles on the sinks and bathtubs. The acid gets rid of the soap scum and prevents it from forming..
It's safe, cheap and effective. I do agree with what everybody has stated above.
I have and it works on floors the best and it works ok in the restrooms
