Help! What can I do about a bleach stain?

Question:I was using a cleaner with bleach in it and got it on my skirt. It's a dark brown skirt. I tried dying the skirt brown again but that didn't work. I even tried coloring the stain with markers that said they were safe to use on fabrics but that didn't work either. Does anyone know any other solutions? I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

I don't know where the bleached out area is but can you save the skirt by using a stencil design? Bleach pens or gels are fairly easy to control and maybe you could find a desgn that would appeal enough to save the skirt. Most colors don't bleach out to white so will have several shades of the color you see now and if you are really artsy maybe you could highlight some of the design with some watered down dye.

The only other remedy might be hair dye, I've used that on carpets.

Good luck. I've done that so many times but I have to have the bleach. Deb

bleach doesn't stain. it un-stains. there's nothing you can do.
yah it doesnt stain it strips the cloth of its color
nothing just use that shirt as either a sleeping shirt or a clean the house shirt
The only thing you can do to hide bleach stains is to totally bleach the skirt. It may not match completely because the old spots dont always match the new color...Or if you wanna change it up a little, you could try splashing bleach on different spots all over your skirt to make it look like it came that way. It could be really cute!
Use color remover to take out all color from the skirt. It won't take the color from the thread though. Dye the skirt a color that doesn't clash horribly with the thread. Another option is to tie it up like you're going to tie dye it and reverse tie dye it by soaking it in bleach. At least then no one will see the bleach spot.
If it is a casual skirt you could tye-dye the whole thing, or try dying it black. Or sew a cute patch over the bleached area. If it is a dressy skirt I dont think there is anything you can do.
Use a q-tip to add a design, just don't use too much it will spread. Rinse it as soon as the color fades out because bleach can damage the fabric.
I've had problems with bleach stains before and a good cold water RIT dye worked fine. Since you've tried a few things already, and if the skirt is ruined, it may be time to cut your losses and just get another skirt.
