Is there any way to remove gum stuck to carpeting, without damaging chemicals?
Question:My carpeting is light, so I'd prefer not to use chemicals that may cause discoloration. Thanks.

Getting gum out of carpet is alot like getting it out of your hair. Use an ice cube! Apply the ice to the gum and it hardens up to a much more manageable form; if you can get it cold enough, and depending on the type of gum, you may be able to 'pick' it out when it's all hardened. Yeah, stay away from chemicals as they won't get gum out.
Else you may be able to cut it out very carefully when it's in its hardened form - use a short pair of scissors to cut its way out of the fibers.
put cheese cloth around an ice cube and rub the gum vigorously. This will make the gum hard. then scrape it away using a utility knife.
Ice it, then use a comb to get under it and pull it up.
Put ice on it to harden it (in a baggie so your carpet doesn't get wet) , then crack of using a hammer.
Dry cleaning fluid will get out what little remains - just blot!
Pure Peanut butter oil! After you've tried the ice as mentioned already. Get some peanut butter oil, the kind that settles on top of the butter in the jar. This is usually the "whole foods" type or organic pure peanut butter. Rub the oil into the gum, it will begin to dissolve. You may have to do this a couple of times. After the gum has broken down clean it out with ordinary carpet cleaner.
Ice
Ice ---- freeze the gum
wedge it up with something not sharp (you don't want to cut your carpet)
anything that remains can be blotted up with lighter fluid (Naptha)
Carpet´s or clothes. Remove the gum this way, freeze it off. BUT 100% it will leave a stain. The way to deal with any gum stain is like this Once you have removed the gum , whip 1 egg white and lay over the remaining stain, leave like this for 10 min´s then in your case as it´s carpet. rinse away with warm water and a sponge before steam cleaning or spot cleaning. If the gum is stuck to clothing , do the same freeze it off, add the egg white, leave for 10 min´s , then wash on a normal machine wash.
wd40 will remove it. It is natural just fish oil. spray the gum spot, then with paper towels pull the gum loose. you will need to clean the spot where the wd40 was sprayed with carpet cleaner.
I've done this before. I would get a baggie and put as much ice in it as you can and then set the baggie over the gum. I'd wait half an hour or so and then take a buttar knife and scrape at it. It will come off.
