How do I get the "old" odor out of cotton / poly sport jersey?
Question:The school gave out some jerseys that had been stored for a long time and are very musty. We've washed it about 4 times and still smells "off".
Answers:
wash it in cold water with detergent then on the rinse cycle use white vinagar ...that should do it
soak it in the washing machine for an hour before running it... use normal detergent... wash and dry IN THE SUN OUTSIDE.
may work, but some smells dont come out (mold, etc)

hang your jumper outside . All it need´s is plenty fresh air . A couple of days outside will rid the musty smell

My daughters soccer jersey was the same way, except it had stains of all kinds on it too. I soaked it overnight in oxyclean and era, then ran it through the washer with the same and hung it out to dry. The stains are gone and it smells clean and fresh.
