What is the best antibacterial/viral cleaner for a home?
Question:My Mom had a kidney transplant and her home has to be steralized practically. I'm looking for a multi-purpose cleaner for door handles, counters, tubs, etc. Any suggestions?
Answers:
I would use rubbing alcohol.
Clorox disinfectant wipes or lysol disinfectant spray
I'd say Clorox would do the job best. When they have flu outbreaks in schools, they wash everything down with Clorox. They have some floral scented Clorox out now that isn't so harsh on the nose.
When i was in junior high, we had this science teacher who let us play with ameobas and such and dissect stuff and he always made us clean up everything with lysol...he said that in his research, it was the very best thing to clean up with. (he's really into science, so I trust the guy) Buy the bottle of full strength stuff and dillute it according to the instructions on the bottle. I keep a spray bottle at cleaning strength ready all the time to clean up after the two year old and all the messes he makes.
I think I agree with the clorox answer. My son and I both have asthma and I have a compromised immune system (due to a medications side affects in the past I get sick with the drop of a hat unless I clean, clean, clean...my doctor said that it would be best to wash the house down with clorox-and as someone mentioned they now have the floral and lighter scented bleach scents-) I am always, always cleaning the house with clorox and in 10 months have ONLY had 1 cold and in 2 years my son has only had 1...I am an avid believer in the "old reliable" clorox bleach... :)
Liz...mom to a sweet 2yr old boy!
Cheap and easy. Bleach and water in a spray bottle. Make sure you have gloves on though.
Why not do something nice for your mom and use something natural. Tea Tree oil is very powerful, just dilute a small amount in metho or some sort of alcohol and top up in a spray bottle with water. Works great and will be kinder for your mom.
