My new 100% cotton sheets wrinkle terribly from the dryer. Can I make my own wrinkle-release spray?

Question:I have new queen-sized 100% cotton sheets that are beautiful but wrinkle really badly, They're much too big to iron, particularly for a senior citizen like me.

A friend suggested a Downy wrinkle-release product but it's very expensive. Someone else said she made her own wrinkle-release spray by combining fabric softener and water. Would that work? Does anybody know the formula?

Other than fabric spray, how can I get the wrinkles out of dryer-dried sheets without ironing them?

Answers:
You can steam the wrinkles out in the dryer by putting a fully wet washcloth in the dryer with the sheets, and then take the sheets out the second they're dry. It takes a little bit of practice to get it right, but it works and it's free!

From now on when you dry your sheets, take them out as soon as they're dry and fold them, and then you won't have the wrinkle problem. They're wrinkling because they're getting too hot and too dry.

Also, make sure you dry your sheets on the medium heat setting. If that's too hot, switch to the low heat setting. Cotton can only take so much! Good luck.

the best i can suggest is to dry them on high heat and make sure you take them out and put them on your bed right away. If you are folding them to put away for future use then when you are ready to use them just spray some water on them and throw them in the dryer for 10 min on high heat (or throw a wet towel in with them) its sort of like steaming them.
you don't...all the new cotton sheets wrinkle like that...you can use 1/2 downey, 1/2 water, but if you spray the sheets you might get 'oil' spots from the spray. (don't you use downey in the rinse and dryer sheets in the dryer ?)
After you dry the sheets...fold them and hang them on a hanger, the wrinkles should hang out of them.
I asked this question the other day. See below for the answers I received.
USE DOWNY, IT WILL BE WORTH THE COST
Wrinkling is usually the result of over drying. You could run them through a rinse cycle in the washer to re-wet them and put in the dryer on a lower setting (not high/cotton) and take out as soon as they are dry (don't let the sheets get bone dry). And don't leave them sit in the washer after spin cycle as that will increase the tendency to wrinkle. Lower temp on dryer, take out before bone dry, don't leave in washer, that should reduce the wrinkles. And use softener in the washer and dryer as a precaution against wrinkling.
You can try taking them out of the dryer before they are totally dry on a perma press cycle (even tho they are cotton & not perma press). Fold when just a tiny bit damp. This works well for my sheets. I do not put them away in the closet for a few hours so they can continue drying while folded. Also... put less in the dryer with the sheets. My experience has been that the more articles in the dryer, the more they all wrinkle.
I do not know of any spray for wrinkles in 100% cotton items.
Good Luck!
Use a combination of Vinegar and water use 5:1, the vinegar will pull the wrinkles right out! Promise. Just spritz good and hang to dry.
You have several options:

Dry the sheets on a lower setting.
Hang dry the sheets.
Contact Downey and request a free sample.
Cover the wrinkled sheets with a comforter (my option).
Next time make sure to buy percale sheets. It has to specifically say "Percale" on the label. These kind don't wrinkle as much. Check out this link to understand what "Percale" means.

I make my own, I use about two teaspoons of fabric softener to a quart of water. Just remember to shake it before each use, sometimes I get color marks it the softener sets in the nozzle.
