What is a cheap but good cleaner for linoleum floors?
Question:
Answers:
Vinegar. I mop my kitchen/bathrooms with it and it cleans the floor SO good. There is NO sticky residue that alot of cleaners leave behind. The smell is strong, of course, but once it drys it leaves a fresh smell.
soap and water from what i hear...
amonia the generic kind
but do not mix with bleach its a toxic combo
that will eat at your lung tissue
but ammonia is awesome we used to use it on linoleum and now we have tile and use it on that
Mr. Clean.!
You don't really want to use soap--then you'll have to rinse. In the sink, mix up a gallon or so of hot water and then add about half a cup of white vinegar. Just damp mop with that. The vinegar will help to remove any grease that may be on the floor. Also, your mop should really be about as damp as a wrung out sponge so that you don't leave water marks. Then if you have stubborn marks you can try the Mr Clean magic eraser, which is also non-toxic. Can't have the pets keeling over for the sake of a clean floor!!
Ammonia. This works great on linoleum, and most tiles. Parson's is a brand name, but most stores have there own off brand. Some is scented, some not. Use in a well ventilated area.
Bleach can also be used on some floors, especially if your worried about cleaning something extra nasty that needs sanitized. Be very careful not to track or drip over carpet or other items, it will of course leave bleach spots. Use gloves to protect hands.
Both would be diluted with very warm water.
Never use bleach and ammonia at the same time.
Hope this helps...
Ginger-
Are these floors waxed? If so, do not use ammonia or bleach. Go to a janitorial supply store and get a neutral ph floor soap. It won't be expensive. Use 1 - 2 ounces per gallon of water. Very safe for pets.
I would suggest Simple Green. It is non toxic and it is made with natural products. I use this in my own home when cleaning my kitchen floor. I have two dogs and it is safe to use around animals. When using Simple Green for mopping I would dilute with water. It is a good degreaser too.
try vinegar and dish soap
