How do I get the small fluffy `balls` out of woollen clothes?
Question:I follow all the manufacturer`s instructions when caring for my woollen sweaters but often end up with these little balls/knots(don`t really know what they are called)-not lint though, all over the clothes.I tend to hand pick them off my sweaters(which takes forever).
I`ve heard of clothes shavers, but what am i to look out for when buying one?Which brands are the most effective?
Thanks.
Answers:
usually the little balls are called "pills"
I haven't tried it, but there's also a "sweater stone" that's supposed to wipe these away without hurting your sweater - and it's much cheaper than the shavers (it's just pumice)
Let me know if it works!
Yes, the Clothes Shavers work. Get one at Walgreens or Longs. They are cheap.
I bought a hand brush just for this purpose the name is HELMAC and it is great-I'm not sure if they are still in business or not but the brush is still in wonderful condition. I might add the brush was produced in Flint, Michigan 48501-I took the info from the handle of the brush. I hope this will help.
try using a razor like you would use to shave your legs... it should not harm the clothing if you run it over carefully... it might take some practice... just a cheap Bic razor. I don't know if it will work your sweaters but its worked on a lot of mine.
They're called "pills"
I just use the sanding blocks you get from the hardware store. They come in 3 packs of fine medium and course, and I use the fine ones (gently) on my sweaters, and the course ones on track pants etc.
I hope this helps...
