Whats the best way to get the urine smell out of a mattress?
Question:One of my daughters has a bedwetting problem and we no longer have a mattress cover, how do I get the urine smell out with a home remedy or something very inexpensive?
Answers:
Use a product called "Natures Miracle" buy it from a pet store or feed&grain..this product is for animal accidents but urine is urine. It's a clear liquid..do not dilute with any other product..pour..it needs to soak through the mattress..and blott and let dry..will it dry fast, probably not but the whole process is cheaper than a new mattress.
I've used this prduct for over 25 yrs. and it has NEVER failed to remove the odor or stain.
It will also work on food spills, vomit, and food spills on laundry/
Wash and dry thoroughly, a wet vac will speed things up. Then cover the area with a whole box of baking soda. It may take a while so you might want to cover it with a rubber pad and then the sheet and give it several days to work.
Urine _b _gone..look it up on the web
throw it away and get a new one. I dont believe you'll ever get urine smell out completely.
you can't...sorry
white vinegar scrub gently with cloth and air out for several hours
We had the same problem when the kids were still young. Best thing is to bring the mattress out during the summer and leave it under the bright sun for several hours. This ensures microbes and urine smell will be elimated.
Mix 1/2 cup of Vinegar and 1/2cup of water and 1 Cap full of dish detergent. Apply with a sponge, wring it out so that it is not soaking wet, but wet enough to do the job. Make sure it dries good, before making the bed.(use a hair dryer if needed)Vinegar is a odor eater, I remember when my kids went through that, I took a cheap plastic shower curtain, and put that on the bed and then the fitted sheet, It did help even with the mattress cover on , it won't go through to the mattress, and you can put the shower curtain in the washer, and in the dryer for 10 Min's.
Wash really well then, lots and lots and lots of FRESH AI R.
Good Luck
I would suggest that you clean it with vinegar and water, let air dry completely. Before making the bed I would apply a vinyl material under the matress cover to prevent the matress from getting wet next time.
