How do i make silly putty or play dough with out having to use cream of tartar,borax, or liquid starch?

Question:i REALLY need a recipie cause i cant find any of the stuff and cream of tartar is too expencive

Here is a recipe I got from a preschool:
3 cups flour
1/2 salt
1 T alum
1 package unsweetened Kool-Aid (for color)
2 cups hot water
3 T corn oil
1 cup additional flour

Combine all ingredients except add'l flour into a dough. Using some or all of the additional flour, knead dough until it reaches desired consistency.

Here's another I found online:
3 cups flour
1 1/2 cups salt
3 T oil
1 cup water
1 T food coloring

Mix all ingredients together.

I think I remember something about flour and salt from when I was little. Don't know exact measurements, but we couldn't afford modeling clay so my mom made this for us to play with.
