Why is my linoleum floor giving us black feet even after mopping?
Question:My kitchen floor is linoleum and I try to keep it pretty clean (hard with two kids). No matter how often I mop it, we all seem to get a dirty black coating on the bottoms of our feet! I recently switched to a Swiffer Wet Jet but that doesn't seem to help with the problem.
Am I using the wrong cleaner? Is there anything that might work better for this situation?
Answers:
Could be left over residue that's not being grabbed by the cleaner and mop. I have found some amazing products that are nontoxic and safe for everyone. They do wonders with my house....2 kids, 2 dogs, and however those mysterious stains pop up..they do wonders I tell ya. If you'd like to know what I use and where I buy them click my avatar and email. I buy them online, and they're delivered to my door. It's great!
Good luck!
I don't know what you are using for your cleaner but it may not be strong enough. I have found that wet jet is not good at deep cleaning. If you really want to get tough use Trisodium phosphate (TSP) available in the paint section of dept stores. Be sure to rinse well. Follow up with a coating of Bright or Future (NOT Mop & Glo) floor product.
Consider a good floor mat or area rug inside your main entry to avoid tracking dirt into your house.
it is either a grease film or oil. you have to use special cleaners to get rid of it. greased lightning or simple green will do it if anything will
just want to remark that using TSP on things can strip the finish right off them...I wouldn't do that without testing a small area.
Are they one foot tiles, or is it inlaid linoleum? The tiles have a glue that comes up from between the tiles and you walk and put pressure on them. It could be that. You'll have to get down on your hands and knees and wash the tiles and seams, I do agree with using simple green as one person suggested.
