Well, first you blot the stain, then you sprinkle baking soda, then you pour Woolite on it, the you come the detergent and baking soda in with a large tooth comb, let that sit for about 30 minutes, then scrub the dickens out of it with a tooth brush, comb more baking soda into it, let it dry, then steam clean the carpet.
as a side note, never EVER use vinegar to get a stain out. Vinegar will make a stain set, that why you use it when you're dyeing fabric, it makes the fabric more permeable to the dye, so it absorbs more.
