A friend of mine pours 2 litres of Cola (the main brand) down her loo and leaves it to shift it, just needs a brisk brush before flushing!
Other items, have used Vineger, Fresh lemon cut in half and wiped over surface and apparently tomato sauce works well if left for a while. I used the cola when soaking the shower head.
Got to be stacks of other suggestions, didnt Aggie of how clean is your house use. White Vineger and Lemon juice?
Just found this http://www.bbc.co.uk/homes/housekeeping/...
"Lingering limescale
Betty calls on her firm favourite, white vinegar, for use on those tough, hard-to-shift stains; its disinfectant properties make it an amazing all-round cleaner. Blitz bath stains with a 1:5 solution of white vinegar and water. Unclog showerheads by first dismantling them and then soaking them for 20 minutes in vinegar.
Remove hard water marks by pouring a can of fizzy cola down the toilet bowl; leave it for an hour, then flush. And finally, after all that hard cleaning, it's time for a glass of white wine - but not for you, for your glass shower doors, to rid them of stains and limescale. "
Have fun!
coca cola gets rid of limescale dont know if that helps can be the cheap stuff not the expensive stuff
Try neat white vinegar. We suffer with limescale a lot here in Spain and I always use it.
cheap cola left overnight or white vinegar will shift it
if it is around the taps, i cut a whole lemon in half and wipe the basin and taps with it. i think oranges work too. I have also got some limescale remover for tougher bits that i leave on the effected area overnight then rinse off in the morning
Oxalic acid, available from most marine stores in powder form. Directions on the container,
distilled vinegar (referred to as white vinegar)
or a sliced lemon.
Depends where you are trying to get rid of it from. If its the toilet i just put cola in it or ( i know it sound weird!) denture cleaning tablets. If its chrome taps i'll rub a lemon over it. Distilled white vinegar is good on shower doors or mixed with water (1/2 and 1/2) to clean a bath, or kettle (leave overnight) or soak tissue paper wrap around tap or shower head wrap plastic bag around it with elastic band and leave. Always make sure everything is rinsed well afterwards
try useing a hammer and chisel ,thats as natural as you can get .
1 way is to use vinegar
ITS NATURAL FOR ME TO GET THE WIFE TO DO IT.
Bicarbonate of soda vinegar or coca cola
Try not to let it build up as when you do get it off it marks the metal under it
Vinegar plain and simple ----vinegar is an acid and limescale is an Alkali
one of the most natural ways for getting rid of lime scale is white vinegar,if its on taps, put vinegar into plastic bag and then emerse the tap in it leave for awhile then wipe off.
Living in a hard water area lime build up in kettles is a real problem. However this simple (and non toxic) solution sorts out the difficulty.
Put a little vinegar into the water and boil it several times - careful it does buble up, but this is it working on the lime deposit. Discard the water and boil the kettle several more times with clean water and your problem will be solved!
By the way using a water filter prevents lime build up as well.
The simple answer is to move north to around Manchester, or Scotland even.
Lemon or vinegar
Vinegar is a natural product
Coca cola isn't
Both work
Vinegar
costic soda from the chemist be careful though its dangerous to inhale
white vinegar
Vinegar in water is good for cleaning limescale stains from glass (such as in a shower cubicle for example). For a thicker build up of limescale neat vinegar or lemon juice will shift it if there's enough of the liquid and its left long enough.
Limescale is an alkali, and vinegar/lemon juice are acids. The 2 react together and the limescale is removed. As the reaction takes place the alkali liquid becomes less concentrated (the ph moves towards acid) and so eventually the reaction will stop.
bicarb soda soda crystals
White vinegar and hard work, you can't beat it. lol.
Lemon juice or white vinegar ( essence of vinegar )
Vinegar
Yes indeed.
Quite simply the best way is to use strong citrus acid juice - eg: limejuice or lemonjuice.
(Especially, for example, where you need to remove it from 'hygenic' surfaces such as kettles, etc. where food and drink are prepared - thus demanding an 'edible' descaler).
While I always use ONLY fresh lemons etc. for cooking, the table and salads, etc. I would, however always be happy to use the little bottles of "Jif"® lemon or lime juice for descaling flasks, kettles, draining-boards, etc.
Lemon or lime juice. Excellent!
(You can even dilute it if you need it to go a long way. But always leave it overnight or longer - pop some in the kettle before you go off on holiday - to let it do it's work).
Only other way is to get a water-softener / or move to a soft water aquifer! (But hard water is much better for your health - it's got loads of good minerals in it. But more costly on soap!) So if you get a water-softener, always remember to leave at least one tap on hard water - for drinking!
Good luck and I hope this is helpful.
in my experience it's organic acid.
Lemon juice and salt. Rub lemon juice on a cloth onto the tap or whatever needs descaling. Then apply salt to the wet area and leave for 30 minutes. Then rub off and the scale should come off without any hassles.Reapply on very bad areas
Try fresh lemon luice. This will get that limescale off.
