What kind of bleach should I use for a pair of cotton trousers before dyeing them black?
Question:If anyone could mention a make or brand, available in London, that would be very handy.
Answers:
I don´t think bleaching your trousers before dying them is a good idea. Bleach seem´s to be the answer to everybody´s stain remover and cleaning solutions. Bleach will eat the fabric, also after a few times using bleach on your clothes, turns them yellow and gray. Just dye then, if you have other items of clothing you wish to dye black, pop them in the washing machine together. Just remember to rinse your machine well, before putting any clothes in
Most any bleach will do the trick...be sure to rinse them two or three times after you bleach them~~~that is very important...bleach stays in your clothing after it is washed...I would recommend any good brand...just rinse, rinse, rinse~!~
Happy new trousers!
Why would you want to bleach them? Bleach will only damage the fabric and make them easier to get holes in them. Try dying them without bleaching and do it in your washing machine. Just make sure there is not dye left in the machine when finished. Good luck.
Psssh. That sounds like too much work. Just go buy a pair of black ones!
Have you thought about using a pre dye instead. It's specially made for such a job. Dylon make one and you should be able to get this from any shop that sells dyes. I know Woolworths sells it.
