What is the smell coming from my tv?
Question:The picture on my television is starting to go out and I have been noticing an odor in the room for the past week. I just realized it is coming from the tv. Is this harmful?
Answers:
You bet its harmful!!! Chuck it. Its probably something metal or plastic burning inside of it. The reason I say get rid of it ASAP is..did you know that T.V.'s can catch on fire even though they are not plugged it. ITS TRUE. I should know...I'm a insurance agent and I have seen and it heard it happen. People think they can just unplug it and it will be okay but theres something in the appliance that can make it catch on fire even though its not plugged in anymore. Its like one of a very very few appliances that can do that.
Probably a component burning and frying. Get rid of that TV before it catches fire.
100% yes. it is the burning smell of old melting rubber. Many items that get constantly heated will have such a smell, especially those with plastic in them. Try to open your window or blow the fan if it is not serious. If the smell is very strong, obviously your TV is gone. Consider getting a new TV. Don't smell too much of that else you will feel sick for a few hours, not to mention possible health problems
Yes, if it is melting plastic, then it can be harmful. It's best to take the tv to get it repaired or buy a new one. Oh, most importantly it could also catch fire so I you should stop using it until it's repaired.
Your tv is going out! That is the smell of a frying circuit.
Yes it could be harmful if you consider the possibility that it could catch fire harmful!
Get rid of it before it happens.

I think that is dangerous because it can destroy your other appliances for it may cause short curcuit and also it can probably cause fire. May be you can try to call a repairman or get rid of that TV before it's too late. May be this tip can help you out to your problem. Before you do that, make a little inspection in your house because may be it's not coming from your tv.
electronics do emit poisonous odors, but it would be wise to get it fixed or replaced before it can cause major damage to the T.V. or your home. Good Luck !
I agree with TALLPAUL. I was gonna say the same thing. Get rid of it. Before your whole house smells with fire !
Or it could be something dead. Have you checked?
