Im do a big clean up of my house today and i was wondering...?
Question:what can i use to clean my carpet and make it smell good, and what can i do to make the cat litter not smell so much?!
Answers:
I wouldn't put Febreeze in the cat litter.
You can sprinkle baking soda on the carpet (let it sit a while) then vacuum it up.
You can also mix baking soda in with the cat litter. Arm & Hammer also makes a great cat litter box deodorizer with baking soda. (And believe me, I've tried a lot)
" Fabreeze "
Baking soda is good for generally taking away odors, but if you want it to have an actual good smell, there are several products out there that you sprinkle on the carpet, let it sit for a few minutes, and then vacuum up and it will leave a pleasant smell. They are usually found with the other air fresheners and deodorizers. Hope that helps!
Call profesonal carpet cleaner to clean the carpet. Should be but $125 for 2br apt. Before you clean the carpet git rid of the cat--probable urinating on the carpet. No, kitty cat then throw away the nasty smelling poop box. Then clean the carpet...
I am single and when I get close to a girl and smell the kitty cat. I don't ask them out. If it is a blind date and she tells me of her kitty cat. That is the first and last date. Cat people smell like the poop box and so does everything else along with the shed hair on everything. Sorry lovie--no date for you...
I'm a home school mom and house wife and I use baking soda on my carpet. Sprinkle it around, lightly, and let it sit awhile before vacuuming. The litter box is always a problem. If you have more than one cat, forget getting rid of the smell. If you have one, though, buy a good clumping litter. Scoop your litter pan in the morning and in the evening, being sure to scrap the bottom. Make sure that there is about 3-4 inches of litter in the box and sprinkle with baking soda as well.
Two words: BAKING SODA...just sprinkle it on your carpets, wait at least 20 minutes, and vacuum away..also you can, I think (not a cat expert!) mix baking soda 1/2 and 1/2 with the litter to help control the odor..please don't use Febreze! or any of the other commercial products...they are nothing but chemicals! and heaven knows we are inundated with enough chemicals as it is!!!!!
Feeding your cat a high-quality dry cat food helps control litter box odors. Why? Because it is better assimilated (used) in the body and will result in less waste (feeces). Sometimes I get tired of paying so much for IAMS, and will buy a bag of cheaper stuff, only to have more litter scooping & more odor. Also, the "hairball" formulas have more fiber, keeps the digestive track cleaned out so to speak, thus less waste fermenting around in kitty's system.
Spend money on a good quality non-scented scooping litter too. Cats don't like the overwhelming odor of a scented litter, and the scented ones smell like. . . . . cat litter. Tidy Cat Scoopable with Crystals is an excellent clumping litter. I buy diaper disposal bags at a dollar store (box of 100 for $1.) and use them when I scoop kitty's litterbox, to bag up the waste.
