What removes the sticky stuff that comes off of stickers?
Question:I ripped a sticker off of my desk, and it left something that looks like glue...its all sticky and I want to remove it. What household items can be used to remove this mark?
Answers:
cooking oil will not damage any surface
nail polish remover
Goo gone. Buy it in the grocery store...where the detergents are.
Goo Gone, you should buy it at any supermarket or Kmart.
Goo Gone does the trick, another brand is Oops! Both work wonders. I always keep it on hand because it removes any sticky gooey mess. (Gum, dried glue, sticker residue, etc)
Vinegar
Goo Gone. Works great
Believe it or not -- cooking oil removes them, even better than windex! This is a handy tip as most people might have cooking oil already in their kitchen pantry.
I suggest putting the cooking oil on a paper towel and not directly onto the item to avoid spilling. Then, after stickiness is removed, wipe off with paper towl moistened with hot water.
Nail polish remover will harm the desk. I use lighter fluid on a paper towel to get sticky stuff off of plastic. On wood surfaces I use terpentine or terpinoid, a synthetic turpentine. If you don't have any of that, plain old rubbing alcohol should do...you have to put it on a paper towel and rub. Be prepared to use a few paper towels and exert effort with rubbing alcohol.
Try a product called Goo-Gone or Lift-off. It works pretty well for me.
i know the answer to this one for sure, so i get the 10 points, wd-40, takes it right off.
