Which Vacuum Cleaner System Works Best?

Question:I've always just bought a vacuum from Wal Mart and they're ok but I've decided since I've got asthma now it would be in my best interest to purchase a really good quality machine. I've had a couple of friends say Rainbow & others say Kirby & I've even heard of Tri Star. What Brand do you think works best?

Answers:
kirby is one of the worst to get, they are bulky and hard to maintain.
Rainbow and tri star are ok but way over priced.

What ever you do get , make sure it has Hepa filter, triple layer filter bag system, make sure it has an exhaust filter which will catch any small particles that escape the bag filter.

Also something that not many think about is the belt that turns the brushroll, keep extra belts on hand too, and change them at least once every 3 months whether you use the vacuum 3 times a week or 3 times a month, the belts stretch out and get loose the longer they're on. When you are vacuuming it may seem like the belts are turning ok, but they slip a lot when stretched out and therefore don't really clean the deep down dirt. Also keep the brushroll area cleaned out - hair and strings and such wrap around the brushroll even the belt area and needs to be cleaned up often, check it at least once a week.

IF you want to buy an expensive vacuum, i would get a Filter Queen, they are great, but if you don't really have hundreds to thousand $$ to spend, the Eureka vacuums are very good.

Dyson
Dysons have good suction, so they clean really well!
Have a Dyson Animal (purple version) and love it. Works great after 4.5 yrs, 2 dogs and 2 teenagers (plus their friends)
Rainbow, the best, the original, the unique, it traps all kind of dirt , air bacteria, ANYTHING that is not "clean" and turn it into CLEAN! even AIR, it can purifie air, its easy to use, and since it use "water" everything stay traped in the water like a magnet. Rainbow also have this kind of "cleaners" that you can put in the water, those cleaners are just like "Clorox" or something like that, make your house smell fresh and clean (and is even clean, kills virus, bacterias, anything) With Rainbow you can clean windows with this tool it have that spray water and trow it very fast with presion! And it have another tool to turn your vacunn into a mop, a ballon or any kind of think blower, you can even put a pillow, clothe anything of that into a bag, then put this tool that will ABSORB anything of it, there is also a huge tool to clean JUST AND ONLY the bed! to kill some insects there, there is also... wow all kinds of tools! is just awesome! the best

RAINBOW = t.A.T.u
You should look at a vacuum which has a HEPA filter. Most of the brands over $100 or so have them. They filter the air from the vacuum before it is discharged into the room. These filters have to be replaced periodically, so you might want to check price of replacement. They probably are upwards of $30. Wal mart has this type filter on a number of their machines. You may want to check the ratings on the filters as some may filter out smaller particles than others.
Electolux, Dyson are good brands. Buy one with a HEPA filter.

If you have pets, empty the vacuum often.
I use a Dyson. It is bagless, easy to empty, has a lifetime HEPA filter, and was worth every penny of the $300 it cost. My daughter is allergic to cats; I have 9 cats and when I vacuum with the Dyson, she has no symptoms. Please read about Dyson vacuums at http://www.dyson.com/homepage.asp. One of these vacuums may really help decrease your asthma symptoms!
I've had both Dyson and Oreck and really have been very satisfied with both. They are far superior to others I believe.

Good luck.
